Cesar E. Chavez Middle School

A Message from Your Principal

October 26, 2017

Dear Cesar Chavez Community,

I’m so excited to be joining the team and community at Cesar Chavez Middle School.

To share a little with you about my background: I was born and raised outside of Cleveland, Ohio and attended Fordham University on a full scholarship for Track and Field. Track and Field was a big part of my life throughout middle and high school. During my middle and high school years, I struggled with academics and thanks to my teachers and school counselors, I was able to turn it around. It is for this reason that I became an educator and committed my career to supporting and helping youth. Throughout my journey as an educator I have taught Social Studies and English Language Development at Ygnacio Valley High School; served as an Assistant Principal at Windemere Ranch Middle School; and Principal at Alameda High School, KIPP King Collegiate High School, and Lighthouse Community Charter Middle School. I have also served as Director of Student Services at for the Alameda Unified School District. Each of these experiences has challenged and taught me more about how to best support students, families, and teachers; and I bring those strengths with me as I enter Cesar Chavez Middle School.

I deeply value relationships with students, families, and staff and I believe that through partnership and collaboration that we can continue to grow student achievement and build a positive school-wide culture. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you throughout the next several weeks. Having met a few staff members and families it is very clear to me that Cesar Chavez is a special place and I am excited for the journey that is ahead.
