Cesar E. Chavez Middle School

Assistant Principal

Chávez Families,

Welcome to the César Chávez Middle School website. I would like to take a moment to introduce myself as the Assistant Principal. It is my sincere pleasure and honor to be able to assist our principal, Mr. Sean Moffatt, in making this one of the best school years ever. I am looking forward to working with the dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational program for our students.

I have spent my whole educational career in HUSD. I started off my teaching career at Ruus Elementary School in 2001 where I taught 3rd and 4th grades. After several years at Ruus I was appointed to the assistant principal’s position at Eldridge Elementary and Park Elementary schools. I decided it was time for a change so I transferred to César Chávez to teach language arts and world history. After a year of teaching at Chávez I became the assistant principal in 2012. The middle school years are the most essential to the academic and social growth of students.

As Assistant Principal, I look forward to fostering a safe, nurturing and respectful learning environment where all students can excel. I encourage all students to be active participants in the various clubs and activities César Chávez has to offer as these schools related activities are significant components of the educational experience.

My educational philosophy is that everyone can succeed with positive support. This support comes in the form of family, friends, outside activities and school. The family should be there to take care of a student’s needs at home. They need to make sure their child is at his/her best when he/she comes to school each day.

I also encourage all parents and families to become involved in the educational process. It is my goal to foster collaboration among the entire community to ensure the best possible education for each child. Communication between school and home is the key to success.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you may have concerning the transition of your child into the new school year. I am confident that together we can make this year a success. I look forward to seeing all of you throughout the year.
